Fact Sheet:
* The Lonoke County Museum was established March 1998 to
preserve the history of Lonoke County.
* It is chartered as a non-profit corporation by the State of
Arkansas and has received federal and state tax-exempt status.
* The organizational group meet the last Monday night of
each month excluding December, in the McCrary Library in Lonoke.
* Annual membership fees are $10 per person, $15 per couple,
$25 per family, $25 for corporate memberships, $200 per person for a lifetime membership, $1000 for a corporate lifetime membership.
* The Board of Directors has been established, and an
Advisory Committee has been seated.
* It is recognized by the Arkansas Museum Services of the
Arkansas Department of Tourism.
* The Museum is receiving limited support from the Arkansas
Council on Humanites which has awarded two (2) grants: one for planning purposes, and another for building a display of the Battle of Brownsvile.
* By-laws have been written and accepted by the Executive
Board.
* The purpose of the Lonoke County Museum is to preserve
the heritage of Lonoke County by educating the public and maintaining a public display of artifacts.
* Communtity meeting are being held. Meeting have been
formed in Cabot and Woodlawn.
* The citizens of Lonoke County are urged to join the
Museum organization. The Museum is dependant on public interest and support. |
