Northside's Invitational Tournament and tournament questions.

Northside's Invitational Tournament.

Starting in 1992, Northside has held invitational tournaments twice a year, one in November and one in February, in order to raise funds for travel and other team expenditures. These tournaments have brought in anywhere from 24 to 32 teams. Among the participants who have attended the tournament, schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi have attended regularly. At least three national winning teams have attended these tournaments over the years.

For the last 4 tournaments (last 2 years) Northside team members have written the tournament's questions (and thus do not play in the tournament, so as to administrate the tournament), facilitating a wide range of question to accomodate teams of varying ability level. The questions' subject areas have remained highly academic in nature, with a focus on the humanities and sciences, with a miniscule to nonexistent amount of trivia.

All teams are guaranteed at least three games prior to the single elimination rounds. These matches arranged around random-draw, Swiss paring, and round robin on some occasions, and pool play at other times.

The next tournament is planned for Saturday, November 13, 1999. Contact Larry Jones for information and/or an invitation letter, which will be mailed very soon.

The entry fee for the tournament is $40.00. An additional "B" team can be enterd for an additional $40.00.

Invitational Tournament Questions

Teams that provide their own lockout systems to the Invitational Tournament will recieve, complimentary, the entire tournament's questions. All the tossups, all the bonuses, all the lightening rounds. Teams who attended the invitational but did not bring lockout systems may purchase the all tournament's rounds for $15.00. The team is also selling the tournament's questions to schools who did not attend the tournaments for $25.00 a set, again with all questions included.
