Northside: 6th in the Nation.Northside finished 6th place at the 2000 ASCN Tournament of Champions thsi past weekend. The team carried a 5-1 record going into a quarter-final match against undefeated Dwight D. Eisenhower High School out of Shelby Township, Michigan. The final score saw Eisenhower High School the victor, 380-320. The 40 point loss amounted essentially to a two fourth-quarter tossup defiecit, and Northside gave Eisenhower the toughtest competition of the tournament. Eisenhower proceeded to take 1st in the tournament, walloping Bethesda, Maryland's Walter Johnson High School 470-170. Northside was the 5th highest scorer in the event in total points, whose 2670 point total inched above the totals of 3rd place Brookwood and 4th place James Island. Congratulations to all the teams, players, and especially to Coach Larrry Jones.(5-31-00)

Northside: 7th and 7th.April 29, 2000. A day that will live in infamy ...in a way. The Northside squad led by coach Larry Jones (to the best of our knowledge Arkansas' serving running high school quiz bowl coach) won 1st place overall at the 2000 AGQBA State Quiz Bowl FInals broadcast on April 29th on AETN. This makes their 7th overall state win, paring up with their 7th 5A win, achieved earlier in the season. Northside is still the high school with the most classification titles and overall titles. Congrats to Cecilia Tran, Boonthanome Nouanesengsy, Seth Hutchinson, Shawn Standefer, and Colin Drolshagen.

Northside held it's first of two invitational tournaments of the 1999-2000 season on November 30th, 1999. Mr. Jones does apologize to all teams - adversly affected or no - for how rocky it went, but at 44 teams in attendance it was the largest tournament ever run at Northside. Results are slated to posted for this tournament, but more likely the results from the spring tournament (February 12) will be online. Stay tuned.
It has come to my attention by a source who shall remain nameless (a Northside student that didn't tell me his name) that the page has been difficult to load for certain folks. I can kind of understand this, since for the past month or so I've been doing the updates with my connection in mind (U of A's pseudo-10Base-T network). Therefore, click here for a non-framed version of the page. I hope this alleviates some trouble.
I'm offering to be a freelance moderator for invitational tournaments in the AR, OK, KS, MO, LA, TN, and northern TX areas for any High School or other Quiz Bowl tournaments. I have high confidence in myself, and if you've attended either Northside's Invitational or this past Fall's tourney at U of A, then you probably heard me read. I've received some high praise from the majority of teams I've read for. If you need an extra, experienced moderator at your invitational tournament, let me know and we can correlate our schedules.
