Illegitimate Theater
Pertaining to stage plays in which musical numbers and/or comedy acts were inserted because, centuries ago, the law allowed only a few approved theaters to produce straight dramas. Nowadays, illegitimate theater consists of avant-garde, vanguard productions including all nude shows, audience participation in the play or Theater of the Absurd.

Intermission
A short interval of time between acts of a play or parts of a public performance. This allows those behind the curtain to change major sections of the scenery, don new costumes, touch up or change make-up, etc. This pause also allows the audience to go into the lobby to use the restrooms and purchase items at concession stands.
