A small theater or concert hall. From the Greek for a roofed building designed for musical performances.Olio
(1) A small comedy or specialty act done downstage, usually before a painted advertisement curtain or simple painted drop in a vaudeville show or revue. While the olio was being performed, the next major sketch, dance number, etc., was being prepared behind the curtain (new sets being moved into place, costumes changed, etc.). Typically, the short comedy routines ending with a major punchline just before the lights went out or the curtain closed, gaining them the name Blackouts. Many vaudeville comedians and singers who performed olios became more popular than the big production numbers that followed them. .
(2) A musical or dance number done before a plain curtain between scenes of a play so that the scenery behind the curtain can be changed.
